Mort Daly Running Foundation Under 18 Series – South Australian Athletic League

We are excited to announce the inaugural Mort Daly Running Foundation Under 18 Series for the 2025/26 Season!

Thanks to sponsors the Mort Daly Running Foundation, competitors will vie for the Mort Daly Cup, accumulating points throughout the season at under 18 races.

There will be prizes for Girl’s and Boy’s categories. Those with the top points at the end of the season will win the following prizes.

Girls	Boys
1st – $200 voucher + trophy	1st – $200 voucher+ trophy
2nd – $150 voucher	2nd – $150 voucher
3rd – $75 voucher	3rd – $75 voucher

How will it work?

Athletes will accumulate points as follows in nominated races:

Enter (must compete)	1 point
3^rd in final	2 points
2^nd in final	3 points
1^st in final	4 points

Points awarded are doubled for country meets – Crystal Brook, Mt Barker and Loxton.

In the event of a tie, a count back on who obtained the most wins will be undertaken, if there is still a tie then the most 2nds and so on until a winner is determined.

If the race is a mixed under 18 race points will apply to 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd only.

Series Races

All under 18 races will be included in this series.

About the Mort Daly Running Foundation?

The Foundation was formed in 1980 with an initial contribution of $115k from Mr Mort Daly.

The Foundation’s sole purpose is to provide prize money to the SAAL to encourage athletes’ participation.

The current investment pool now stands at $321,000. Since 1980 the Foundation has provided an impressive $435,000 to the SAAL.

Funds used for under 14, under 18 and novice races through the season as well as the sponsor of the Mort Daly Running Foundation Carnival and now the Under 18 Series.
