Rules of Competition Season 2024/25

Today we have uploaded our rules of competition for the upcoming season. Please ensure you have read the document and have an understanding of our competition and the rules surrounding it. Please let us or your coach know if you have any questions. You can find the rules on the Essential Documents page of the website.

Following feedback on the 2023/24 Season we have made some changes, in particular we would like to draw your attention to eligibility and handicapping for the Bay Sheffield and Camden Classic.

You will no longer be required to run a particular number of races to be eligible to race in the Bay Sheffield and Camden Classics.

However, any athlete who has not competed at least twice in the current season over the nominated race distance or has no identifiable form over that distance will have a full handicap review undertaken for that event. This review will be based on their best MPS and in the cases of new and junior (U18) runners will include their expected age and development improvement level.

Athletes that fall into this category can expect to be re-handicapped in order to ensure race integrity.  This includes interstate Athletes.

Further to this in order to provide an additional level of scrutiny in our major events, all Open, Under 18 and Over 35 races at the Bay Sheffield Carnival and 400m Open Races at Camden will be handicapped firstly by the existing handicapper and then prior to publishing formally reviewed by the independent handicap review panel.

You can read more detailed information about the improved handicap review process in Appendix 2 – Handicapping Guidelines.
