Gather Round Sprint

We are excited to be returning to the Barossa Valley and collaborating with the SA Tourism Commission, State Government, AFL and SANFL to bring the excitement of sprinting to Gather Round.

SA Athletic League registered athletes are invited to compete in SAAL 70m exhibition races at the Gather Round Sprint event at Lyndoch on Sunday 13th of April 2025.

Heats will be held between 10am and 12 noon with the final at half time of the Richmond vs Freemantle game. Both heats and final will be on the newly redeveloped Barossa Park Live Site adjacent to the main ground where the football matches are being played. Entry is FREE!

• Over 35 70m Sprint $600 prize pool
• Women’ 70m Sprint $1,000 prize pool
• Men’s 70m Sprint $1,000 prize pool

This is an exciting opportunity to be amongst the action at Gather Round, have a last hit out for the season or get a race in before Stawell!

FOOTBALL RACES
For those of you who also play footy, there is the opportunity to enter the footballer’s races.

The Gather Round Sprint will see registered footballers sprint 70 metres for prize money and glory.

A total prize pool of over $30,000 will be shared by both players and footy clubs. The Fastest Male and Female Open winners will receive $5,000 each and an additional $5,000 for their registered footy club, while all underage categories will take home $1,000 each and an additional $1,000 for their club.

Registrations are free and open now, with limited spots available. A maximum of two representatives from each community football club per category can compete and all entrants must have been registered to an affiliated community football club in the 2024 season to qualify (excludes AFL and AFLW listed players).
