We’re pleased to welcome back the Mort Daly Running Foundation Under 18 Series for the 2026/27 season.
With support from the Mort Daly Running Foundation, athletes will compete for the Mort Daly Cup by earning points in under 18 races throughout the season. The award has been designed to reward regular participation and travel to our country meets.
Prizes will be awarded in both the girls’ and boys’ categories, with the season’s top point scorers receiving the following:

How will it work?
Athletes will accumulate points as follows in nominated races:

Points awarded are doubled for country meets – Crystal Brook, Mt Barker, Goolwa and Loxton.
In the event of a tie, a count back on who obtained the most wins will be undertaken, if there is still a tie then the most 2nds and so on until a winner is determined.
If the race is a mixed under 18 race points will apply to 1st, 2nd and 3rd only.
Series Races
All under 18 races will be included in this series.
About the Mort Daly Running Foundation?
The Foundation was formed in 1980 with an initial contribution of $115k from Mr Mort Daly.
The Foundation’s sole purpose is to provide prize money to the SAAL to encourage athletes’ participation.
The current investment pool now stands at $321,000. Since 1980 the Foundation has provided an impressive $435,000 to the SAAL.
Funds used for under 14, under 18 and novice races through the season as well as the sponsor of the Mort Daly Running Foundation Carnival and now the Under 18 Series.
